While three kids with a wide range of ages and interests is a very different game, I am putting to use some of my old skills. I am also thankful anew for my training and experience as a teacher. I like to tell myself that it helps me be a momma. I like to tell myself that it also helps me be that parent that my kids' teachers don't hate. (here's hoping, anyway!)

We talked about meat eaters and plant eaters, and how the scientists can tell from fossils which is which.
Then we sorted the toys we have into carnivores and herbivores. (we only own a zillion because my Grapes went through a HUGE dino phase early on. Picture a barely 3-year-old headbutting strangers at church and then announcing it was because she was a pachycephalosaurus. Yeah-- that was her.)

We ate dino shaped sandwiches (thanks Walmart for the cookie cutter)
We even found a website with dinosaur games like memory and build-your-own-dino.
We still have plans to check out dino books at the library and visit a restaurant in town that has life-size Dino statues. Any Dino suggestions?
Fun ideas! You could also dig for dinos in sand, on make fossil imprints with play dough. (the teacher in me is coming out too!)
ReplyDeleteKate loves dinos too. She is just like Grapes. We found dino eggs at the dollar store that had bones inside of them. There was a little pick with them, and you had to "dig" until you found them. It was super messy, but the kids loved it! There were some other fun dino things at the dollar store too. Check it out.
