Pictures worth a few words

Just a few pictures...



This is Pencil's favorite place to be. He has super hearing and as soon as the dishwasher is open, he is crawl/walking over.(hands and feet, not hands and knees) He loves to play in the little puddles in the door, and roll the rack back and forth. He hasn't tried to actually climb in yet, so it's still funny.




This is our get ready for dinner party. I had my music playing in the kitchen, and Grapes and Sock were coloring at the table. When a 'fast' one came on, they decided to play rock-band. Sockie is guitaring on a spatula and Grapes is drumming with crayons. "I tan't fight this fee leen any moe!"




We also have a picture that I won't post. But imagine if you will, our silly little boy, right after a bath, discovering that the sliding glass door acts as a mirror after dark. He is posing as a muscle man, and in the picture all you see is his naked little backside as he admires his front physique. SO funny!

One Tooth Wonder and Multiple Personalities

So here is a better picture of Pencil's little tooth. It totally cracks me up. (unless he's using it to bite me on the nose....)
I also love that Grapes's new favorite thing to do after school is drive Pencil around in the dumptruck. They do laps around the house, just saying hi to everyone a zillion times. It's so cute and Pencil loves it!


This last week Sockie's favorite thing to play has been tea party. He carefully arranges the dishes on the tray and oh-so-carefully carries it to you. Then he offers you a drink of "you-bee-o" (it took us a while to figure out that means rootbeer) If you neglect your dishes, he will pick up your little pink plastic spoon and feed you himself. VERY efficient, that one. But there have been no tea parties in the last two days, so I am afraid they have become suddenly less cool. (coo-loo... in Sock-ese) I wanted to get a picture, but I may have missed my moment.

He has, however, decided to play multiple personalities. Yesterday he was "fie-dough-man" (spiderman) and true to character, he didn't speak. His faces were hilarious. (again, sadly, there are no pictures!) At dinner he was playing instead of eating and The Doctor had to strongly say, "I want to talk to SOCKS" before the little man would respond.

This Saturday was a great day. #1- because the doctor had the day off. He really hasn't had to work tons on this ICU rotation, but it has been 6 days a week. #2- this Saturday was a clean-up clean-up day. Our house was spotless before 8:30 am. (remarkable!) and then we washed our cars. The kids had a blast and Fred and Carla look fantastic! (who knew a clean car would look so much better than a dirty one!?!)


The rest of the day was a joy of just hanging out, running errands, and being together. We even got to have a coldstone 'date' for the whole family. Sockie chose cha-lock-et and Grapes chose strawberry. We all shared and even Pencil got one bite. Yay for family time!




I've also been a little busy trying to sew a new dress for Grapes. (This kid is growing- and fast!) So, I decided to try my hand at adapting a cheap tank-top into a dress. It turned out fairly well for having no pattern.



I also made super-capes for the kids. For those looking closely, the green fabric may be familiar. These capes are the remnants of what was my *first* skirt for my sister-in-law's wedding. As evidenced by 2 full capes, the skirt was a bit more than I had anticipated. BUT- super kids are happy, and the second skirt worked out much better!






I also have a picture of Pencil's hill-billy tooth. He is a hard one to photograph, so I'm sorry it's not a better shot. It's coming in quickly, and there is no sign of any others. He looks hilarious, but I love it!

G: Mom! Sock is wearing my necklace. He looks silly!
M: Boys wear necklaces sometimes. Dad had one when we were in college.
G: OH! Like Mr. T!
M: Sort of.


M: Sockie, what is your middle name?
S: Sott-ee
M: Yes, that's your name, but what's your MIDDLE name?
S: Sott-ee
M: Yeah, but what does mom say when you're in trouble?
S: TIME-OUT
M: oh- and your middle name.... and time out


S: MOM! dwapes not lissen a me!
M: What happened? Grapes didn't listen to you?
S: Dwapes not wissen a me! My say a nummers and he not wissen.
M: the numbers?
S: Yeah! a one, two, free, and time out! He not lissen!
(pronouns are a new thing-- we're all HE)
M: Sockie, you can't tell her time out. That's only for moms.
S: WHAT?!?! WHY!?!?

Moments as the Mommy

While sitting on the edge of the bath tub,keeping Pencil out of the toilet with one hand, I listened to Sockie telling me his traits as an alligator.
S: My long mom! LONG tail!
M: Yup, very long!
S: My sarp tlaws, mom!
M: Dangerous!
S: My sarp teef!
At which point I look down to see two gleaming rows of little teeth open and reaching for my bum.
M: Alligator?
S: uhh? (mouth still open and looming)
M: Don't bite my bum with your sharp teeth, please.
S: WHY!?!?!?!

After retrieving Grapes from school we began the discussion of her day.
M: How was recess?
G: OH, Mom! I played the funnest game today.
M: What was the funnest game?
G: We played seeds! What we did was was just found some seeds and planted them so that they will grow into a giant and beautiful tree.
M: Seeds? Where did you get seeds?
G: We found little seeds on the playground. We planted them in a beautiful sunny spot and when it rains they will grow up so beautiful. They looked a little like rocks, but I know they were really seeds and tomorrow we'll see them growing!
M: Wow- that sounds fun! What else did you do at recess?
G: MOM! The seeds took up all the recesses and tomorrow they will too! It's hard work!
M: oh! ok!
