Mind the Gap, Part 2

Filling the spaces in between. That is what we are doing today.
Not yet into the new, we are reminiscing about the old.

--Like that time the temperatures climbed to well above comfortable, but we had to have an open-house to try to sell our house. So we piled into a van named Clifford and drove to Mt. Lemon. (remember, here?)

Only this time our car overheated about 1/2 way up and we got to enjoy the view from the side of the road instead.

 A good Samaritan stopped and gave us cold sodas to drink while we waited for the van to cool down.

Sodas? Yes, it was easily the best day ever because of the sodas.

--Then there was the time a Monkey named Socks graduated from kindergarten. He was so proud of himself! He strutted some serious stuff when he got to wear a purple mortar board and sing silly school songs in a ceremony that was both delightfully short and slightly tear filled (on my part. not his.)

--Or the other times (plural) that the monkey named Pencil climbed into the top of the pantry or stole off with an ipad...wearing little in the way of clothing.

--Or the moments when my oldest monkey began to be aware of the blog and its audience. And began to request not to be included. And I struggle to respect her wishes and not embarrass her while still recording her growth and beautiful spunk.

In this gap being minded, time with family is a delight. We're running around Utah like mad, trying to catch everyone and not kill each other in the process. We have a countdown to a new house, and a new school year and a new life. And it looms; silently, intimidatingly, and mysteriously on our horizon. Some days I think we're ready. Others, I'm certain we're not.
But like so many things, it continues to become whatever it is going to become.... with or without our permission.
So we're getting there. Thanks for coming along for the ride.
